My favorite relative

Week 3

My favorite relative is my Aunt Joan. She is not just a family member, but a friend, a mentor, and a second mother. She is my favorite relative because she is kind, generous, and has a strong personality. In our family, Aunt Joan has always been special. She is my mother’s twin sister, and I have always liked her calm personality and soft voice ever since I was a child. Somehow, she makes everyone feel right at home. She brings peace wherever she goes, whether it's through her food, her stories, or just being there. When I go to see her, her house feels like a safe haven it's warm, full of love, and the first thing I notice is the fragrance of her cooking. The thing I admire most about Aunt Joan is how smart she is. It looks like she knows how to fix everything. I know she will give me good, honest advice when I'm having trouble at work, with my family, or just feeling down. She listens without judging and talks in a nice way. Things haven't been easy for her. But she never let hard times break her spirit. After my uncle died when I was a kid and she raised their two kids by herself. Her rough experiences made her stronger, more caring, and even more inspiring instead.

Aunt Joan is a great cook. The food she makes at home is legendary in our family. We all look forward to her signature meals, like her fried rice and pepper-pot, every holiday. She shows love by cooking, and no one ever leaves her house without being full. A lot of afternoons have been spent in her kitchen, where I've learned her recipes and laughed at her jokes. These memories are some of my favorites. Aunt Joan is very special to me because she always makes me feel like she gets me. During my childhood years, I often felt like no one understood me or saw me, but she always saw me for who I really was. She told me to follow my dreams even when other people didn't believe in me. Because she believed in me, I felt free to be myself and follow my dreams.
There are many ways that Aunt Joan made me the person I am today. Her strength, kindness, and smarts have taught me a lot about life. For me, she has taught me how to be strong, love deeply, and respect others. Maybe someday I'll be half as good as she is. Sometimes when I feel like the world is cold and moving too quickly, Aunt Joan reminds me of what's important: family, love, and being true to ourselves. The fact that she is in my life makes me so happy. And for that, I’m proud to say that she's my favorite relative, and I love every minute we spend together.
