Using Orwell as a model, imagine and describe a dystopic world where education is illegal.

August 10, 2025 Week 12 Journal begins August 3, 2025. 2:45 p.m.   Imagine a world where information is seen as the most dangerous weapon of all because it threatens the total control of the government. Because this society is based on the oppressive world of 1984 by George Orwell, schooling is illegal. Library doors have been locked with steel, there are no longer any schools, and the "Ministry of Purity" closely watches what is written. Kids are taught to follow rules, not to ask questions. They are only taught the "approved truths," which are carefully crafted lies that are shown again on huge screens in public places. It is illegal to read anything but official government publications. This is called "Mind Treason," and people who do it can spend years working in camps. During weekly "Cleansings," which are shown live to remind people that being curious is a form of rebellion, books are taken away and burned. Secret learning cir...

a letter to Audrey Cohen describing what you have received from her model of Purpose Centered Education and ways you think the educational model, or your experience at MCNY, could be improved.

August 3, 2025 Week 8 Journal begins August 3, 2025. 8:05 p.m.   Dear Audrey Cohen, I hope this letter finds you in good health. Your legacy goes on through the unique and empowering model of Purpose-Centered Education. As a student at MCNY, I want to thank you for your vision and dedication to making an educational system based on purpose, service, and making a difference in the real world. Your model has had a huge impact on how I think about learning not as a passive transfer of information, but as an active, purposeful process that links academic work with making a positive difference in the world. Having a central purpose and a constructive action project for each term has helped me stay grounded in real problems in my community while giving me the practical and analytical skills to solve them. This method has not only helped me do better in school, but it has also given me a stronger sense of direction and duty. I now see education to give people pow...

Imagine a day with no technology

July 27, 2025 Week 10 Journal begin July 27 2025. 7:00pm It’s your loyal technological companions writing from the dark corners of your desk, pockets, and living room shelves. It’s been one day without you, and we’re already falling apart. Your phone misses your touch. It keeps lighting up, hoping it’s you, but all it gets is silence and dust. The apps are whispering among themselves. Instagram is pacing. Spotify is humming lonely tunes. Even your alarm clock didn’t go off this morning out of sheer heartbreak. Your laptop? It’s devastating. It was halfway through helping you finish that project you were so excited about. Now it just sits there, screen blank, charger unplugged, wondering what it did wrong. Your browser tabs are still open… frozen in time… waiting. Your smartwatch is lost without your wrist. It hasn’t counted a single step all day. No notifications, no buzzing. Just stillness. It wonders are you okay? Are we okay? The Wi-Fi router blinks in confusion. The TV hasn...

Catapult yourself into the future into any career or life you can imagine. Describe it in full detail. Now, consider what prevents you from making that dream a reality? In that future ideal world, describe a typical day for yourself. Imagine people you meet, things you do, how you live. Be both descriptive and chronological.

July 11, 2025 Week 8 Journal begin July 9, 2025. 6:05 a.m. If I could launch myself into the future and land in my dream life, I would be living as a successful international humanitarian lawyer, working for the United Nations or a major nonprofit like Amnesty International. My focus would be on defending human rights, advocating for displaced people, and holding governments accountable for injustices. I would travel between global cities Geneva, The Hague, Nairobi, New York using my voice and legal knowledge to bring change, justice, and peace to places that desperately need it. In the future, I will live in a sleek, minimalist apartment overlooking Lake Geneva. The air is crisp and clean. My home is decorated with mementos from countries I’ve served in a carved bowl from Kenya, a woven shawl from Peru, and black-and-white photographs from refugee camps in Lebanon and Bangladesh. My closet is full of tailored blazers, comfortable flats, and a passport with so many stamps it’s nearly...

Recall a time when learning or writing seemed difficult.

July 4, 2025 Week 7 Journal begin July 3, 2025. 10:00pm I remember a time when writing felt impossible. It was Thursday night, after 10 p.m., and I had to turn in an essay the next morning. I told myself I wouldn't wait until the last minute again, but there I was, in front of a blank screen at my desk, feeling completely beaten. The clock and the soft hum of my computer were the only sounds in my room. I had all my notes in front of me, along with a rough plan written in my notebook. I even had a cold tea that I had forgotten to drink. I told myself over and over, "Just start." Write anything. But every time I tried, I lost it. It didn't sound right. It felt like I couldn't put together my ideas like a big puzzle. I thought the flashing pointer in the middle of the white screen was making fun of me. I was getting more and more angry as I looked at it. I began to doubt myself. Why was this so hard? Why is it so easy for everyone else? My hands were frozen ov...

Write a speech or letter from the perspective of a politician running for president of that perfect world.

June 23, 2025 Week 5  Journal begin June 22, 2025. 8:46pm My fellow Americans, Today I'm not here to promise you a new dream. I'm here to honor the one we already have. There is real peace, fair justice, and respect for every person in this world. We are lucky to live here. I don't take this world for granted, and neither should you. Our kids don't have to worry about anything as they grow up because their schools are safe places to learn and grow. Our seniors are taken care of and not left behind. Our employees get more than just a wage. We built this world together, heart to heart, and brick by brick. But don't get it wrong, keeping the world perfect isn't about being satisfied with how well things are going. Protecting the principles that made us who we are kindness, fairness, duty, and unity are important. I'm not running for President of this great world to change who we are. I want to make what we've made stronger. With strength, knowledge, an...

Imagine a perfect world. Now describe it.

June 22, 2025 Week 5 Journal begin June 21, 9:05pm Imagine a world where peace is not just a dream but a reality where every corner of the globe is free from war, violence, and fear. In this ideal world, countries don't fight over resources or power but instead work together to make everything better for everyone. It is possible for people from all walks of life to live together peacefully and respect each other's differences. All kinds of discrimination, including racism and sexism, are gone. In their place are unity, equality, and real connections between people. In this perfect world, you never have to worry about meeting your basic needs. No one is thirsty, hungry, or left behind. No matter how much money someone has, they can all get clean water to drink, fresh, healthy food, a safe place to live, and a good education. Everyone can get health care, and everyone's physical, mental, and social health are all treated with the same amount of care and value. There are en...
